The week culminates in this annual tradition of a mariachi-led procession around campus, 教堂里的弥撒, followed by a fiesta in the Soda Center! 游行开始于 6:15pm 在教堂广场, and will stop at various places around campus before leading into the Chapel for mass at 7pm. All are invited to follow the mariachi after mass to the Soda Center where everyone will be treated to a fiesta beginning at 8:15pm with a buffet dinner sponsored by the Office of the President and Office of 学生生活, a performance by Ballet Folklorico Guadalupano, and finally a live Banda and dancing! |

瓜达卢佩圣母 is revered and recognized all over Latin America. In 1531, ten years after the defeat of the Aztec empire in Mexico by the Spanish, Our Lady made an appearance to an indigenous peasant, 胡安迭戈, 在提比亚克山上. 用当地人的语言, 纳瓦特尔语, La Virgen shared her desire for a church to be built so that she can show and bestow her love, 同情, 帮助, and protection to all who call upon her and confide in her.
La Virgen has been part of the Mexican identity for almost 500 years, she represents our ancestors; she represents us. She has been the source of hope for the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized. That is why believers and non-believers hold a special place for her in their hearts.
We will have a series of week-long opportunities to honor and celebrate La Virgen. Ending the week with a traditional procession with the image of 瓜达卢佩圣母, 弥撒和节日. Our hope is to share with you all our Latinx expression through food, 跳舞, 认为, 文化, 灵性, 和信仰.
